Announcement

International Workshop
“From Roots to Routes: Origin and Transformation of Foodways in the Austronesian Societies”

Foodways, as a discipline, examines the entire system of food production, preparation, consumption, and cultural significance within different groups. It also explores how food knowledge is transmitted within societies and varies across cultures. The workshop—“From Roots to Routes: Origin and Transformation of Foodways in Austronesian Societies”—aims to investigate the rich and dynamic food traditions of Austronesian-speaking peoples. We invite distinguished researchers to share their studies on how food practices shape and reflect environmental adaptation, social structures, economies, cultural identities, rituals, and migrations within Austronesian societies. By examining foodways, this workshop will foster the exchange of ideas and provide an interdisciplinary platform for understanding the deep and complex history of Austronesian food traditions.
